Our Story
Silverleigh Alpacas is a family-run alpaca stud situated on the lush green pastures of Waitara Road, Brixton, in the beautiful Taranaki region of New Zealand. Surrounded by rolling farmland with views of the stunning Mount Taranaki, our property provides the perfect environment for raising happy, healthy alpacas.
Our passion for alpacas began with a fascination for their gentle nature, beautiful fleece, and the incredible diversity of colour they carry. That passion quickly grew into a dedicated breeding programme focused on producing high-quality black and grey alpacas.

How We Care for Our Alpacas
At Silverleigh, animal welfare comes first. Our alpacas graze on well-maintained pastures and receive supplementary feed and minerals as needed. We maintain a routine schedule of health management including regular veterinary checks, dental care, nail trimming, and annual shearing.
Each alpaca in our herd is known by name and personality. We believe that calm, well-handled animals produce the best outcomes — both for breeding and for the families who welcome them into their own lives.
