At Silverleigh Alpacas, our breeding programme centres on producing beautiful black and grey alpacas. These colours are some of the most sought-after in the alpaca world, and we take great care in our pairing decisions to work toward outstanding results in each generation.
We breed with a focus on the whole animal — not just fleece. By selecting for a combination of desirable traits, we aim to produce alpacas that are a pleasure to own, handle, and work with, whether you're a breeder, lifestyle farmer, or fibre enthusiast.

Temperament
Calm, friendly alpacas are at the heart of our programme. We believe good temperament makes every aspect of alpaca ownership more enjoyable — from handling and health management to farm visits and interaction with families.
Fibre Traits
We look for density, softness, and consistency of fleece across the animal. Our blacks and greys are selected with attention to colour richness and the overall quality of their fibre, which is a key part of the alpaca's value.
Conformation
Good structural conformation is important for the alpaca's health and longevity. We select for strong, well-proportioned animals with correct leg structure, bite, and overall balance.
Blacks & Greys
